I am a singer-songwriter, artist and RMT based in Toronto, Canada. I create workshops for new mothers that combine creativity and community connection as a way to navigate the early days of motherhood and beyond.
I’ve worked as an RMT for over 30 years with a focus on perinatal massage and especially postpartum care when mothers often become invisible and isolated. I see community and creativity as a key to the motherhood journey and as a way to own one’s experience. I like to think of motherhood as a work in progress, curated by the mother herself. As a massage therapist, I am always learning about the practice of healing touch, especially when it comes to the nervous system. I like to think of the work I do as healing through deep relaxation.
My music and songwriting were a way for me to navigate the early days of motherhood which helped make sense of my new identity. Writing continues to be a healing balm on my motherhood trip — showing up in songwriting, poetry, journaling and writing with other mothers. Now that my son is no longer a child, I’m starting to explore a wider range of creative expression because I know how essential it is to my mental health. I’m always looking for ways to bring the creative spirit into the equation of healing, whether it be through sound, writing, art or touch. All these things are self-empowering acts which give us agency over our well-being.
"I like to use art to navigate the time I have on this planet."
I hold writing sessions for mothers of children of all ages and all kinds of writers with my group, Write On Mama and a Birth Story Poems session for new mothers and parents and caregivers.
For creative workshops, or creative coaching, I offer 1:1 or group sessions.
My deep relaxation massage sessions are by referral only.
